Introduction

This blog post will go through the most recent Meteor updates and announcements from the month of December. This has the latest version of Meteor, a new Git provider for Push to Deploy, recently released Meteor resources, and more!

December 2022

Here’s a rundown of Meteor’s December highlights. We worked hard to provide you with new Meteor features and enhancements. Let’s begin!

Meteor 2.9.1

We launched Meteor 2.9 in December. However, at the time of this writing, version 2.9.1 is currently available and recommended.

The latest version of Meteor includes a few highlights, such as the Node v14.21.2.0 upgrade, updated Svelte skeleton, a fixed fetch() type declaration, and more.

If you want to discover all the technical specifics, you may read the changelog or Gabriel Grubba’s blog post on Meteor 2.9.

With that said, we’d like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the following contributors:

We appreciate your help as we continue to develop and improve Meteor.

New Push-to-Deploy Update

Over the last few months, we’ve been working hard to bring you another Git provider to push to deploy!

The much-requested addition of Bitbucket as a Git provider for Push to Deploy has arrived. All plans, including the free one, allow you to update or deploy your app straight from your repository with just a few clicks.

This feature has been on Meteor’s roadmap for a while, and we’re very excited to share this update with you.

Our current integration supports GitHub and Bitbucket, and we hope to expand to include Gitlab soon.

Follow this link if you’re eager to explore this new addition. Furthermore, our documentation contains additional information about Push to Deploy.

Miscellaneous

12 Days of Meteor

Last month, we carried out a campaign that emphasized major announcements for each month. As a result, we decided to call it “12 Days of Meteor!” For 12 days, we revisited and re-shared that news with you. You can find it on our Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn sites if you missed it.

Chatra Case Study

Our most recent case study features Chatra, a well-designed chatbot built in around six months utilizing MeteorJS! Their elegantly designed, user-friendly live chat and social messaging platform for small and medium-sized enterprises enable brands to communicate with their target audience in real-time or asynchronously. The case study can be viewed here.

Cloud Promotion

Last month, we ran a holiday savings plan promotion in which you could save 25% by signing up! Unfortunately, the promotion expired on December 31st, 2022, but stay tuned for the next one!

How to Integrate Stripe with Meteor

Meteor ambassador, Juan Pablo Mejia, has published a new tutorial that shows how to establish a unique payment solution for Meteor using Stripe and React. Find out more about it here.

Scaling an Agency with MeteorJS

In this article, Fabian describes how he makes decisions on growing his business and why he believes MeteorJS is a key contributor in scaling the team and meeting customer needs. Read the “Scaling up a Developer Team with Confidence” blog post here.

Meteor Toolbox Update

Meteor Toolbox has just got a new version, which provides support (go to definition and references) for Methods (default and ValidatedMethods) and Publications (default and publishComposite), as well as several other enhancements. You may learn more about it here.

MaxCDN End of Lifecycle, New Meteor Domain Name

You may have noticed that we have a new Meteor domain name. MaxCDN, our static file CDN supplier, has reached the end of its useful life, therefore, Meteor had to update the content delivery network URL structure. Read the entire update here.

Coming Soon ⏳

Thank you once again to everyone who has supported Meteor and increased awareness of it. The most important developments and news for December have been covered. For a recap of January, check back with us in the next article.

Meteor 2.10 is in the works
