Recap of Last Month 📆

In this post, we’ll talk about the most important things that happened at Meteor in April. Meteor has been evolving progressively better, and our team has been working hard to bring you the newest and most exciting changes and features. It’s time to get started!

Meteor 2.12 ☄️ and Blaze 2.6.2 🔥

We’re happy to announce that as of this writing, Meteor 2.12 is the preferred version. Updates were also made, bringing Blaze.js up to version 2.6.2.

Some of Meteor 2.12’s most notable features are as follows:

  • Blaze 2.6.2 release
  • Warning When Using Old API
  • MongoDB Driver Update to 4.16
  • Node 14 Extended Support Maintenance
  • And more!

Sincere appreciation is due to the following people for their contributions:

We appreciate your understanding as we work relentlessly to improve Meteor.

Here is the Meteor 2.12 changelog, or you can read Gabriel Grubba’s blog post for more information.

Important Meteor Cloud Announcement 🚨

Meteor Cloud will stop supporting TLS versions 1.0 and 1.1 on August 1, 2023. TLS 1.2 or later is recommended for optimum security and regulatory compliance. Outdated TLS versions are vulnerable to cyberattacks, thus we urge that you upgrade right now.

Go to Settings > Security and set TLS to Minimum 1.2 to test your app’s compatibility. Protect your apps from potential dangers by staying secure.

More information may be found in our changelog.

Miscellaneous 💡

Announcing Extended Support Maintenance for Node.js 14

You may be aware that Node.js 14 LTS ended on April 2023. After the official end-of-life date, Meteor Software will continue to support Meteor.js Node.js 14 ESM for an extra 12 months to enable you to migrate your apps to Meteor 3.0 easily. Meteor + Svelte

The upgraded Meteor-Svelte Starter Package, developed with the newest technologies, is currently available. Meteor, MongoDB, Svelte, and Goldilocks-CSS are all up-to-date versions, and they are all used in this package, providing a rock-solid basis for beginning any endeavour. Again, much appreciation goes to zaphodbb-pm, who spearheaded this significant update.

Meteor Cloud Improvements

The “Logs” page on Meteor Cloud has recently been improved with a better date filter and the option to download one to seven logs. In addition, the interface’s UX/UI has been improved, with nicer colours and fonts, making it more user-friendly. By signing into Meteor Cloud, you can see the changes. Keep checking back for additional information. The whole changelog is available on this page.
