Introduction

This blog post will look at some of October’s most recent Meteor updates and releases. Meteor 2.8 update, Meteor Impact, meetups, new Meteor material, and more!

We have a few exciting things planned for November, but first, let’s take a look back at October.

October 2022

Here’s a rundown of what happened in Meteor in October. We have worked hard to provide you with new Meteor features and updates. Let’s get started!

Meteor 2.8

The long-awaited Meteor 2.8 version is finally here!

You may use `meteor update — release 2.8` to update your app.

Meteor 2.8 has Node 14.21 upgrades, including security patches. Details, security notes, the new MongoDB Async API, the upgrade to MongoDB Driver 4.9, the inclusion of new skeletons for Solid and Chakra-UI, and the Meteor.callAsync function are all available.

Meteor 101 Fundamentals: Section 3

Top-notch online education continues at Meteor University as we release Section 3 of our Meteor 101 Fundamentals course. This new component is about Meteor logins and accounts taught by Meteor evangelist and ambassador, Filipe Névola.

We appreciate your patience and really hope you like this new section. As usual, you have the opportunity to take an exam and get a certificate for Section 3 at the end. Don’t forget to inform your friends and coworkers that you are pursuing a career as a Meteor developer! 😉

Feel free to use our online university’s social section to ask your questions or provide feedback or you can always reach out to us on our forums and Slack.

Meteor Ambassadors & Meteor Impact

On October 13th and 14th, the Meteor Impact conference was held. It was jam-packed with keynote speakers, workshops, social activities, and a brand-new feature: a tradeshow!

Thank you very much to Jan Dvorak (aka Storyteller) for organizing the event.

If you want to see the video recordings, you can go here. Please remember that to see these recordings, you must first create an Impact account.

Lastly, our Meteor ambassadors also participated in the conference, and you can watch their presentations on the Impact page. Thanks to Medhi Mahmoudi, Jan Küster, Jan Dvorak, Kelly Copely, Dmitri Golev, Fabian Kromer, Filipe Névola, and Leonardo Venturini.

We look forward to seeing you again next year!
